Shady Grove – another one for my to do list. I only walked by and never stopped in but it was buzzing. Great outdoor area for drinks!
FOODTRUCKS! – it seems Austin is the birthplace of the cool food truck concept – there are more of them here than anywhere. The truth is, I don’t really think you can have a bad meal in Austin, so make your way through the food trucks and please leave comments with suggestions!

Hotel San Jose – another beautiful small boutique hotel in SoCo (South Congress) with a really local feel. It’s perfectly located for exploring the city and the walk to the river isn’t that far either.

Travaasa – A getaway out of the city, in the hill country area north of Austin. The resort is really beautifully located on a hill with fantastic views. Totally worth the drive.

Tom’s on South Congress – sure, you can buy Tom’s shoes anywhere. But this one has a coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating within the shop, along with a hammock! What other store lets you sit around for hours?

Continental Club – You can’t go to Austin and not check out the music scene. I’ve never been to South by Southwest or ACL Music Festival (on the list!), but did get to check out a gig at the Continental Club. It’s small and cozy and somewhat of a little legend.
